Our First Movie and Dinner Night at Flavorish

If you weren’t able to make it last night to our first Movie and Dinner at the Market, you missed a fun event!  Luckily, this is something we’re planning to do once a month.  Our first movie was Julie and Julia, the story of how a young woman finds joy over a year cooking every dish from Julia Childs’ Mastering the Art of French Cooking.  She keeps a blog about her experience and finds a fulfilling career as a writer, a passion for French cuisine, and happiness.  In honor of Julia Child and a major scene in the movie, we served beef bourguignon, a potato gratin, and a tarte au citron for dessert.  Of course, there was a wine tasting as well.  The food and the movie were delicious.

Next in the series is Bottleshock, the story of the early days of California wine-making, featuring the now infamous blind Paris wine-tasting of 1976 that has come to be known as the “Judgement of Paris.”  We’ll announce the meal next week.  The Bottleshock event will be August 27th, Wednesday, at Flavorish, from 8-10 p.m.  The cost of the event is $25 per person, and tickets are available at Flavorish, 7283 Biscayne Blvd., 305-754-8787.
